Casa Daniela combines stone walls, exposed timber and carved wooden railings with hand-painted details throughout the house. An outside staircase leads to the upper floor and its covered porch.

Inside, the shared living area has exposed beams, wide floorboards, a long dining table and a hearth. Guests also have access to a shared kitchen.

This is a privately hosted holiday home rather than a hotel. There is no reception, breakfast service or lift.

Voroneț and the painted monasteries

Voroneț Monastery was founded by Stephen the Great in 1488. Its exterior frescoes, including the Last Judgement on the western wall, are renowned for their vivid blue. The monastery is part of the UNESCO-listed Churches of Moldavia.

The monastery is 600 metres from the holiday home, an easy walk down the valley.

Follow Strada Voroneț out of Gura Humorului and pass the monastery. Continue a little farther, then turn right and follow the road up the hill to Casa Daniela. Parking is inside the yard, behind the metal gate.

By train, get off at Gura Humorului Oraș. It is a short taxi ride, or a long and rather pretty walk.
